Applying to the LDP
The Leadership Development Program will begin to accept applications for the Fall 2015 semester in September. We look forward to meeting you at an upcoming Information Session and receiving your application!
Fall 2015 applications will be due on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 by 5 p.m. (late applications will be not be accepted)
Important Information for Candidates
Gaining acceptance into the Leadership Development Program (LDP) is competitive. The LDP seeks out students who are genuinely excited to learn about leadership, motivated to develop their skills and abilities, and committed to earning the Certificate in Leadership. We encourage students to learn as much as they can about the LDP prior to applying so they can articulate how they believe the LDP will enhance their leadership development.
To apply to the Leadership Development Program, applicants must first complete the on-line application, which consists of biographical/academic information, leadership essays, and the submission of recommendation(s). Upon submission of the on-line application, the CDLS staff will review applications and determine which candidates will move on in the process and receive an interview with a staff/faculty member.
It is our goal to best prepare candidates both for the interview portion of the process and potential membership in the program. Thus, candidates intending to apply to the LDP are strongly encouraged to attend one of the three Information Sessions offered. Those who do attend a session will gain priority in moving on to the interview portion of the process.
Attend an Information Session
Please choose one of the four scheduled Information Sessions. Sessions are approximately 45 minutes in length:
Monday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m. in North Hall 127
Thursday, September 17 at Noon in North Hall 127
Friday, September 18 at Noon in North Hall 128
Tuesday, September 22 at 11:30 a.m. in North Hall 127
Who should apply?
Rider undergraduates of all majors who are interested in advancing their leadership development are invited and encouraged to apply. While first and second year students have the greatest opportunity to complete the program requirements prior to graduation from the university, students in their third year may apply, but are encouraged to speak with the Director of the LDP to assess the likelihood of successful completion. Only applicants with a 2.5 GPA or higher will be considered (first semester Freshmen are exempt from this, as they do not yet have a GPA at Rider).
If you have any questions about the application process or the information sessions, please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to receiving your application!
When completing the online application, please note that the application cannot be saved and completed at a later time. As a result, ensure that you have enough time and all required information to complete the application before beginning the process.
