WHAT is the New Jersey Collegiate Entrepreneur of the Year Competition?
The 2013 New Jersey Collegiate Entrepreneur of the Year Competition is designed to recognize exceptional entrepreneurial skill and creativity among undergraduate students enrolled in NJ colleges and universities.

WHO is eligible?
Undergraduate students owning at least 50% of a business and attending college full-time – defined as:

  1. completion of at least 12 credit hours per semester in the previous calendar year or
  2. completion of at least 12 credit hours during the previous summer/fall semester if student is a freshman or
  3. completion of at least 12 credit hours in the previous spring/summer if the student has just graduated, or if the student has not yet graduated, the student’s last 12 credits of senior level coursework may be taken part time (assuming prior full-time status).

HOW do students apply?
Complete and submit the application and supporting documentation by February 15, 2013.

HOW are winners selected?
An independent set of judges review applications.  Evaluation criteria include entrepreneurial spirit, obstacles overcome, success of business (financial, market share, etc.), concern for quality and customer service, estimated potential for future success, and abiding by the submission rules for maximum length of entries.

WHEN are the awards conferred?
Awards will be presented at a dinner ceremony at Rider University in late spring, with photo opportunities for winners and sponsors.
