Meet Our Co-Op Students

Accounting Newsletter Issue - May 14, 2013

One measure of the success of the undergraduate and MAcc programs are student placements in co-op, internship and full-time positions. The program continues to grow each year and this academic year, we had over 100 student placements in public accounting, corporate settings and not-for-profit organizations. To put that in perspective, over 70 percent of this year's graduating seniors and MAcc students worked a paid co-op or internship experience.  We feature some of our students’ experiences and firms participating in this year's program in this article:

Temitope Kamson — Internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers

“I interned with PwC for a period of four months during the spring semester of 2012. During the course of the internship, I was part of a team responsible for the audit of hedge and private equity funds held by Merrill Lynch Alternative Investments. I assisted the engagement team by executing audit procedures on several financial transactions including cash flows, dividend income, investment purchase and sales testing. The internship/co-op program at Rider offers students a great opportunity to obtain valuable, hands-on experience in their intended field of study.  I benefited immensely from the mock interviews offered by Career Services; these interviews equipped me with the confidence I needed to obtain several internship opportunities. I highly encourage students to take advantage of these resources.”

Jonathan Moyer — Co-op at AIG, USB & Internship at Deloitte

“Over the past 4 years, Rider has given me countless opportunities to learn and grow, both in the professional and personal sense of the word.  Whether it was in the form of a financial internship in Manhattan or being flown to a leadership conference in Texas for a Deloitte recruiting event, Rider offers its students so many various avenues of the business world to explore.”

Anam Khan –Internship at Ernst & Young

“Rider was an easy choice for me because it was close to home, had an acclaimed co-op program and the College of Business was AACSB accredited. Whether it was working on a semester long tax project or needing advice on how to finish my undergraduate and graduate studies in four years, my professors have been there for me every step of the way. As a result of the executive coaching offered, I was able to obtain a tax internship at Ernst & Young.  I had such a great experience that I ultimately chose to start full time with Ernst & Young. For these reasons, I would recommend Rider University's Accounting program to any prospective student in a heartbeat.”

Mariah Duckett – Co-op at Wilken & Guttenplan, CPAs

“I attended Rider University for all four years and can honestly say I have been well prepared for life after college. From attending Rider I have accepted a full time job position with Wilkin & Guttenplan a public accounting firm that is rated the best regional public accounting firm in New Jersey. And Rider is helping me pursue my MAcc while working, something I know I would not be able to do anywhere else.”

Tanuj Kamar — Co-op at KPMG

“I chose the MAcc program at Rider University because of the wide range of employers who recruit on campus and the program's AACSB accreditation. Through taking courses in the MAcc program, I have also gained a solid foundation to eventually take the CPA exam. This semester, I accepted a winter internship offer from KPMG, and am looking forward to the possibilities a Rider education will bring me.”
