Leadership Through Business
Summer 2008

Leadership Through Business is more than an academic program. It is your chance to sample college life and become part of a team of bright, motivated, talented and engaged new friends. You will build your knowledge and your confidence in just two weeks at Rider!
- Are you a college-bound high school student considering a career in business?
- Are you taking on leadership roles in your high school or community?
- Are you interested in knowing how leadership impacts business success?
Rider University is combining two of its greatest strengths — leadership preparation and excellence in business — to create an unforgettable summer learning experience for high school students.

If you will be a junior or senior in Fall 2008, consider the opportunities you’ll find in Rider’s Leadership through Business Summer Institute:

Inside the Classroom
To succeed in the world of business, it’s important to understand the organization — from finance and marketing to human resources — and the people who make it work.
- CBA 110/Introduction to Business is an actual college-level course that has been adapted and accelerated to fit into the two-week program. Your studies will cover such issues as competitiveness, ethics and globalization — and the impact of personal and corporate leadership on a firm’s success. Students who successfully complete the course will earn three (3) college credits.
- You will apply what you learn as a member of a computer-simulated business project, where you and a teammate will create a product from the ground up to launch.
- Two accomplished and award-winning Rider faculty members, whose research has appeared in many major business publications, will lead your learning experiences. Their interactive approach to teaching and focus on teamwork will strengthen your written and oral communication, interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills.
- It’s a no-risk chance to test your college skills. The credits you earn will give you a head start in college, since many colleges and universities will accept the transfer of such summer courses.
Outside the Classroom
Rider University is known for preparing great leaders. In fact, it has created some of the most exciting student leadership programs in the country.
Rider also is known for its outstanding business programs. It is one of only two universities in New Jersey to hold prestigious dual accreditation by AACSB International in business and accounting — the “gold standard” in business education.
- You will participate in a series of Leadership Workshops designed to help you understand, practice and improve upon your leadership and team-building skills. You’ll learn how to develop a personal leadership style, effectively motivate others and build a loyal team.
- You will test yourself — and build your confidence — in a Ropes Challenge Course.
- Get to know your classmates through fun campus events (volleyball, anyone?) and special field trips to venues like New York City’s NBC Studios.
- Your “home away from home” will be Rider’s residence halls. All rooms are standard doubles, which means you will have a roommate — a terrific chance to get to know one of your classmates.
