Westminster Choirs Will Be Heard in Two December Radio Broadcasts

Performances by the Westminster Symphonic Choir will be broadcast on December 16 and 22.


Fuma Sacra to Present Portuguese Christmas Vespers

Fuma Sacra, the resident choral ensemble at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, will be joined by Piffaro, the Renaissance Band, for its annual Christmas concert in Bristol Chapel on Westminster’s campus in Princeton Sunday, December 19 and Monday, December 20 at 8 p.m. 


Westminster Opera Theater Presents Hansel and Gretel on December 10, 11 and 12
Westminster Opera Theater will present Engelbert Humperdinck’s opera Hansel and Gretel Friday, December 10 at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11 at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 12 at 3:00 p.m.  All performances will take place in The Playhouse on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton.
Westminster Concert Bell Choir Will Perform Three Holiday Concerts
The Westminster Concert Bell Choir, conducted by Kathleen Ebling-Thorne, will present the first of three holiday concerts on Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 8 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton.  The ensemble will also perform Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 4 p.m. and at 8 p.m.
Holidays at Westminster Begins with “Cool Yule Jazz II”
Holidays at Westminster will begin with a performance entitled “Cool Yule Jazz II” Friday, December 3, 2004 at 8 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton. 
Westminster Alumna Wins 2004 Marian Anderson Prize
Soprano Kiera Duffy, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Westminster in 2001 and a Master degree in 2003, was one of four winners of the Marian Anderson Prize for Emerging Classical Artists at the recent awards competition in Philadelphia.  In addition, sopranos Amanda Moody, who earned bachelor’s and Master degrees from Westminster in 2002 and 2004, respectively; and Elisa Vilbergsdottir, a current student, received Encouragement Awards.  All three will be honored at an awards ceremony and prize recital Friday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Academy of Vocal Arts, 1920 Spruce Street, in Philadelphia.  Kiera and Elisa will also perform in the recital.
Westminster Williamson Voices Will Present Inaugural Concert at The Philadelphia Cathedral November 14.
Entitled Journey, the concert will take the audience on two journeys: a sonic journey exploring the relationship between the music and the performance space, and a spiritual journey employing the primal elements of music that reflect the most profound elements of human expression.  In conjunction with the performance, artists with the Philadelphia-based organization Journey Home, will exhibit their work.

Johannes Brahms: His Music and His World - October 21 – 24
Westminster will host a festival focusing on one of the 19th century’s musical giants, Johannes Brahms, October 21 through 14.  Entitled Johannes Brahms: His Music and His World, the festival will include four performances, pre-performance lectures, and a day-long seminar.
Westminster Jubilee Singers Will Present “Thanksgiving: Expressions of Faith and Gratitude” on November 6
Westminster Jubilee Singers, conducted by J. Donald Dumpson, will present a concert entitled “Thanksgiving: Expressions of Faith and Gratitude” on Saturday, November 6 at 8:00 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus in Princeton.  The performance will feature works that give voice to a season of hope and gratitude and will include African-American spirituals, hymns and gospel songs.  Some highlights will be Mark Hayes’ arrangement of Give Me Jesus, Charles Albert Tindley’s Nothing Between, and Kirk Franklin’s Stomp
Westminster Choirs to Perform in Princeton University Chapel on October 30
Four of Westminster’s choirs, totaling over 300 voices, will present a triumphant evening of music for choir, organ and brass Saturday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m. in the Princeton University Chapel.  Westminster Chapel Choir, conducted by Sun Min Lee; Westminster Kantorei, conducted by Andrew Megill; and Westminster Williamson Voices, conducted by James Jordan, will be joined by the Westminster Symphonic Choir and guest conductors Anton Armstrong and Stephen Paulus.  Westminster faculty member Ken Cowan will be the organist for the concert, joined by Solid Brass.
