Choral Ensembles
Westminster is renowned for its outstanding choral program that includes seven ensembles, performing a broad range of repertoire. All students have unparalleled opportunities to perform on a professional level in major concert halls and on both of Rider’s campuses in Lawrenceville and Princeton.
Westminster Symphonic Choir
Joe Miller, conductor
The heart of the college choral community. For more than 75 years, it has appeared with major symphony orchestras from the United States and Europe and with the leading conductors of our time. All juniors and seniors and first-year graduate students perform choral-orchestral repertoire at the pinnacle of artistic and technical mastery. Joe Miller is the newly appointed director of choral activities at Westminster.
Westminster Choir

Performing a wide variety of repertoire at the highest level of the choral art. The choir records, tours throughout the United States and has been the chorus-in-residence for the Spoleto Festival U.S.A. in Charleston, S.C., since the festival's founding in 1977. Members are selected by audition.
Westminster Chapel Choir

Composed of Westminster’s newest undergraduates, the Westminster Chapel Choir performs a varied repertoire. Founded in 1946, it performs in churches, schools and concert halls. This ensemble has served as the introduction to the “Westminster Experience” for thousands of alumni throughout the world. Sun Min Lee has collaborated with a number renowned conductors, including Lorin Maazel, for whom she prepared the Westminster Symphonic Choir for performances of Mozart’s Coronation Mass with the New York Philharmonic.
Westminster Concert Bell Choir
Kathleen Ebling-Thorne, conductor
Performing on the world’s largest set of handbells. Since its inception in 1979, the ensemble has grown to achieve national renown for its artistic and technical artistry. The choir tours throughout the country, has appeared on national television, and released five recordings. Open to Westminster undergraduate and graduate students by audition. Kathleen Ebling-Thorne is well known as a handbell clinician and has conducted choirs and workshops around the world.
Westminster Jubilee Singers

A multi-cultural, multi-racial and interdenominational ensemble. the Westminster Jubilee Singers performs music from the African-American tradition. Conductor J. Donald Dumpson is also minister of music at Bright Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia. He has collaborated with such artists as Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, Melba Moore, Cab Calloway, Patti LaBelle, and Grover Washington, Jr.
Westminster Kantorei
Andrew Megill, conductor
A chamber choir specializing in music of the Renaissance and Baroque eras, with occasional forays into later repertoire (including new works). The ensemble is composed of 16 of Westminster’s most talented students. Andrew Megill is recognized as one of the leading choral conductors of his generation, known for his passionate artistry and unusually wide-ranging repertoire, extending from Renaissance music to newly commissioned works. He is also artistic director of Fuma Sacra, Westminster’s ensemble-in-residence, chorus master for the Spoleto Festival USA.and associate conductor and director of choral activities for the Carmel Bach Festival.
Westminster Schola Cantorum

The Westminster Schola Cantorum is the core choral experience for students in their second year of undergraduate study at Westminster. The ensemble performs a wide range of repertoire in a variety of genres from the Baroque to the 21st century. The choir also focuses on smaller masterworks, a cappella repertoire, and music from diverse cultural backgrounds. James Jordan is also an internationally recognized pedagogue. His theories of rhythm pedagogy and movement are now widely applied in music education for the teaching of rhythm to children and adults.
Westminster Williamson Voices
James Jordan, conductor
A select ensemble of 40 singers who combine performance with educational outreach. It is named for the founder of Westminster Choir College, John Finley Williamson, who devoted his life to bringing choral music at the highest level to churches and schools, communicating the human mission of choral singing. One of America's most respected choral conductors and educators, James Jordan is also an internationally recognized pedagogue. His theories of rhythm pedagogy and movement are now widely applied in music education for the teaching of rhythm to children and adults.
Fuma Sacra

Fuma Sacra is recognized as one of the country’s most exciting and important chamber choirs specializing in early music. Founded in 1989, the ensemble has been consistently acclaimed by critics and audiences for the passionate and virtuosic performances which have consistently “left the audience gasping in amazement” (Classical New Jersey.)
Rider Choir
Composed of Rider University students, the Rider Choir performs each winter and spring on Rider’s Lawrenceville campus.
