The Tree of Life
Aleksandr Manusov lived a short life (1947-1990), but during that lifetime he was able to discover and pursue his personal and original vision and voice.
The images he developed whether in pastels or paints, explode with vibrant colors and powerful organic shapes that demonstrate his deep concern for the creative process and for life itself. Throughout his adulthood, he helped find and lead other “unofficial” artists away from the oppression and suffocation of the official “artistic ideas” imposed by the Soviet government.
It is hoped that the exhibition and the catalogue entitled The Tree of Life struck a chord with the public helping them recognize Aleksandr Manusov’s deep concern for humanity and his struggle to achieve freedom of creative expression.
