The Elemental Series

Since the early 1960’s, Goodyear’s vision has continuously questioned the traditional manner in which an artist looks at, creates, and manipulates a variety of materials to make art.  As Goodyear has stated, “Creating (a work of art) is probably not much more than seeing something in a new context or finding a new use for something … new relationships.”  Goodyear also asks the viewer to question, “… art materials and life materials.”

The exhibition challenged and forced the viewer to see the similarities and, “… difference(s) that exist between visual art and life.”  Goodhyear has created a body of work that he hopes “… the viewer will take enough time to see the unusual connection between subject and medium, and to see how the one affects the other.”  He wants us to question, “… what is art for?  Or perhaps, how does it work?”
