Two for the Show

Lucy Graves McVicker and Charles Taggart McVicker are a husband and wife team who are both deeply involved in the process of creativity but in entirely different ways.  Lucy and Charles are both perceptual artists reacting to the world around them, and then creating different interpretations of what they see.  Lucy paints in watercolor and mixed media incorporating a wide variety of painting techniques into her work.  Her images of landscapes and still lifes uncover the wonderful abstract nuances of nature rendered in her own very intuitive, delicate, and textural manner.

Charles, on the other hand, paints in acrylic and oil focusing mainly on the still life in its most realistic state.  He is interested in creating images that are filled with intricate detail and then emphasizing the subtleties of the domestic world with dramatic lighting.  Charles has also begun incorporating stories and poems into his paintings adding to the visual experience.

The differences in visual impact – delicate versus bold, subtle tones versus strong contrasts, and abstraction versus realism – conveyed by the diverse techniques of wife and husband, make this a very unique and exciting visual opportunity for the public.
