1950-1960 Transition: Abstract Expressionism to Photo Realism

The Feminist Art Project

The exhibits of works by Alison Weld and Audrey Flack are part of the Feminist Art Project sponsored by Rutgers University, a national initiative celebrating the Feminist Art Movement and women artists’ impact on contemporary art. Its purpose is to bring public attention to women artists’ significant impact on contemporary art practice, highlighting their international influence, and guaranteeing their inclusion in the cultural record, past, present, and future. Starting in 2006, museums, universities, and other institutions nationally are commemorating historic anniversaries in the American Women's Art Movement of the 1970s, and launching new initiatives that demonstrate the ongoing significance of women's contributions to art.  To learn more go to http://feministartproject.rutgers.edu.
