Westminster Grad Is American Idol Finalist

Anwar Robinson, a member of the Class of 2001 at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, is one of the finalists on Fox television’s American Idol.

A graduate of Montclair High School, where he studied with Westminster alumna Pamela Axton ’92, Anwar majored in music education and studied voice with Scott McCoy.  He was a member of the Westminster Jubilee Singers, and he is a featured soloist on Jubilee’s recording A Celebration of Spirituals, Hymns and Gospel Songs.  As a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir he sang with the New York Philharmonic, the New Jersey Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra.  Today he teaches 6th, 7th and  8th grade chorus at Edison Middle School in West Orange, N.J.

Because the viewers decide who is eliminated and who moves on to the next round of American Idol’s competition each week, everyone who wants to support Anwar is encouraged to tune in and give him your vote!  American Idol is broadcast on Fox-TV.  Check your local listings for broadcast information.  For more information about American Idol and to follow Anwar’s journey to stardom, go to http://www.idolonfox.com/
