Westminster Chapel Choir Presents Let Music Live! on February 28
The Westminster Chapel Choir, conducted by Sun Min Lee and Ronnie Oliver Jr., will present a concert entitled “Let Music Live!” on Saturday, February 28 at 8 p.m. in the Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton.
The program will feature works for men’s and women’s choirs by Joseph M. Martin, René Clausen, Maurice Duruflé, and Claude Debussy. A highlight will be the world premiere of Two Yeats Fragments, composed for the women of the Westminster Chapel Choir by Benjamin May, a Westminster graduate student,.
Setting the standard for choral excellence for 88 years, the Westminster Choir is composed of students at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. It has been the chorus-in-residence for the Spoleto Festival USA since 1977, performing both in concert and as the opera chorus. The Choir was also the chorus-in-residence for the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy, for 23 years.
Sun Min Lee is an assistant professor of choral conducting at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. She currently directs the Westminster Chapel Choir and teaches both undergraduate and graduate conducting courses. Ms. Lee has prepared choruses for performances with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. She earned a Bachelor of Church Music degree from the Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary in South Korea and a master’s degree with distinction in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College.
Ronnie Oliver Jr. is a member of the conducting faculty at Westminster Choir College and the executive director and conductor-in-residence of Manhattan Concert Productions in New York City. Dr. Oliver made his Carnegie Hall conducting debut in June 2005 with the National Festival Chorus. Throughout his career, he has been active as a conductor of professional choirs, collegiate choirs, high school and junior high honor choirs, church choirs and community choirs. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Murray State University. After teaching choral music at Radcliff Middle School and North Hardin High School, he went to Texas Tech University to earn his Master of Music degree in choral conducting and a Ph.D. in fine arts.
