Westminster Choir 2008 Tour: Fort Worth, TX

The Westminster Choir and conductor Joe Miller invite you to embark on a tonal journey of new and old works with texts and harmonies that remind the listener to look to the future but stay connected to the past.  The program takes its title, “The Sun is Daily New and Old,” from Alfred Janson’s setting of Shakespeare’s Sonnet No.76, which concludes with “For as the sun is daily new and old; So is my love still telling what is told.”

In addition to the Janson work, the program will include settings of Shakespeare’s texts by contemporary composers Matthew Harris and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.  The ensemble will also perform William Byrd’s Haec dies, Jonathan Quick’s Loch Lomond and three songs by Johannes Brahms.
