Musica Poetica

Fuma Sacra, a professional vocal ensemble specializing in music of the Renaissance and Baroque eras, will be joined by guest artists Nancy Wilson and Fred Fehleisen, violins, Jay Elfenbein, violone, and Holly Chatham, organ, for a concert entitled “Musica Poetica."

The program will feature music by Heinrich Schütz, a leading German composer of the generation before Johann Sebastian Bach.  The program will feature works from Geistliche Chormusik, the most important collection of 17th century German motets, and Symphoniae Sacrae II, which sets texts from Luther’s translation of the Bible for virtuoso soloists accompanied by two violins.
