A Feast of Madrigals
Spring is the perfect season to savor the delights of the madrigal, the greatest secular form of the Renaissance. Sit back and enjoy a tour of these songs of love, tracing the history of the madrigal from early 15th century Italy to modern America. You'll hear works in Italian by Arcadelt, Rore, Marenzio, Monteverdi, and Gesualdo, alongside English madrigals by Weelkes, Wilbye, and Morley, as well as a smattering of delightful French chansons and modern madrigals by Jacob Druckman and Morten Lauridsen.
