Music Theory and Musicianship
Carmen Mateiescu, Department Head
Musicianship Tutorial
The musicianship tutorial program augments private instrumental or voice study, enhances ensemble participation, and prepares students of all ages to be informed listeners and concertgoers. Musicianship tutorials give students the tools to understand music through an individually tailored course of study. Areas of study include music theory, harmony, counterpoint, form, analysis, composition, ear training, and sight singing.
ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) written theory preparation sessions are available by appointment only. Please contact Carmen Mateiescu at the main Conservatory office at 609-921-7104, or by e-mail at cmateiescu@rider.edu if you are interested.

Westminster Conservatory offers a wide range of classes and ensembles to meet the needs of every student, from the beginner to the most advanced student, regardless of age. Some classes are intended as an introduction to music, and require no previous experience. Others are designed to complement private instruction. Most classes run 32 weeks per year. Class length is based upon minimum enrollment. Some classes may be offered with a smaller enrollment by reducing the class length. In this case, the tuition remains the same.
