Opera Outings
OPERA OUTINGS

This popular program features trips to Saturday matinee performances at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center, New York. Opera excursions include round-trip coach transportation, background information on each opera, and information about restaurants in the Lincoln Center area.
The bus leaves Princeton at approximately 9:00 a.m. to arrive in New York in time for a leisurely lunch and shopping or browsing and returns immediately following the final curtain.
The 2008-2009 season includes the following Metropolitan Opera productions:
- October 4: Salome
- October 18: Doctor Atomic
- December 6: Tristan und Isolde
- January 24: Orfeo ed Euridice
- February 21: Adriana Lecouvreur
- March 14: Rusalka
- March 21: La Sonnambula
A limited number of orchestra balance, dress circle, balcony, and family circle tickets are available. Subscription and single-ticket options and fees are detailed in a separate brochure available from the Conservatory office. All sales are final.
OPERA LECTURES
These lectures are a wonderful way to enhance your Opera Outings experience. Lecturers Tim Urban and John Ferguson will examine each opera’s historical background and compositional style through recordings and group discussion. Lectures generally take place Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. one week before each opera outing. Options and fees are detailed in a separate brochure available from the Conservatory office. The cost includes the lecture, a libretto of the opera, and refreshments. All sales are final.
