Faculty

The CoOPERAtive Program’s resident faculty artists are among some of the most sought after performers, directors and conductors and artistic administrators in the operatic world today. They are regularly engaged at such opera companies as the Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, San Francisco Opera, The Paris Opera, London’s Covent Garden, Milan’s La Scala, St. Louis Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia and Lake George Opera.

Steven Crawford (faculty 2008) - Opera coach/accompanist, assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera for many years, Classical Singer Coach of the Year 2007

JJ Penna (faculty 2008) - Associate Professor of accompanying and coaching at Wesminster Choir College, faculty at Julliard, accompanist in recital for Denyce Graves, William Burden, Kathleen Battle

Susan Shiplett Ashbaker (faculty 2006, 2007, 2008- Coach. The Curtis Institute of Music; Opera/Artistic Consultant; former Director and Music Administration, Opera Company of Philadelphia

Marc Verzatt - (faculty 2006, 2007, 2008) Drama Coach.  Lyric Opera of Chicago, Lake George Opera, Yale University

Jamie Stover Schmitt  (Faculty 2006, 2007, 2008)- Ed.D; C.M.A - Alexander/Body Awareness Coach.  Founder: Spanda, The Yoga of Movement and author of Every Woman’s Yoga

Debra Scurto-Davis  (Faculty 2006, 2007, 2008)- Musical/Language Coach. Swarthmore College, Westminster Choir College, Florence Voice Seminar
