Summer Camps

Each summer middle and high school students from across the nation come to Westminster for an extraordinary learning experience.  Working with Westminster’s renowned artist faculty, they strengthen their passion for music, develop their technique and expand their creativity in an atmosphere of artistic and intellectual discovery.  Our programs are all residential-only and the tuition includes room and board.

High School Camps

 Solo Vocal Artist
 June 21 - July 3, 2009

This program offers the opportunity for the dedicated young classical singer to explore the many facets of developing the singer’s art. The young singers study voice in daily private lessons (five lessons in week one and four in week two) taught by Westminster Artist Faculty members.

 Composition Camp
 June 28 - July 3, 2009
Composition Week provides aspiring young composers with concentrated study in the fundamentals of composition. Through individualized attention, students of all levels of proficiency, from beginner to advanced, work with Westminster faculty members.

 Solo Pianist
 June 28 - July 3, 2009
This workshop offers the serious young pianist an enhancing and stimulating musical experience and exposes each participant to the artistic and practical aspect of solo performance.

 Organ Institute
 July 5 - July 18, 2009
This program offers young organists a unique opportunity combining rigorous organ study with an engaging choral experience.

 Vocal Institute
 July 5 - July 18, 2009
Under the direction of renowned choral conductor and clinician James Jordan, the two-week Vocal Institute draws 150 students from across the country and around the world. 

 Music Theater Workshop
 July 19 - Aug 2, 2009
The summer High School Music Theater Workshop is for high school performers who are Broadway bound. 


 Piano Camp
 Camp A:  July 19 - July 24, 2009
 Camp B:  July 26 - July 31, 2009

Now in its twenty-fifth year, Piano Camp is a unique and exciting musical experience for high school students. Led by Professor of Piano Ingrid Jacobson Clarfield.


 Guitar Camp
 July 26 - Aug 1, 2009
At Guitar Camp, serious high school guitarists of all levels come together for a week of great music!


 Flute Camp 
 July 26 - Aug 1, 2009

Under the direction of flutist Sandra Olson of Westminster Conservatory, this camp also features Gerald Carey, flute-Professor Emeritus, Western Illinois University, Sue Gillio, Flute Faculty, IVCC, Oglesby, Illinois and pianist Esma Pasic-Filipovic, of Westminster Conservatory.

 Westminster Summer Intensive
 June 21 - Aug 2, 2009
Choose one of the three options for your Musically Intensive Summer at Westminster College of the Arts of Rider University.

 

Middle School Camps

 Piano Camp
 June 28 - July 3, 2009

This residential program offers young musicians the opportunity to develop their playing skills, learn more about the fundamentals of music theory, composition and history and share in the joy of making music together.

 Vocal Camp
 July 5 - July 11,2009

Modeled after the highly acclaimed High School Vocal Institute, the middle school program provides students with an opportunity to study and  learn from some of the country's leading educators in the field of

 Music Theater Camp
 July 26 - Aug 2, 2009
