Simon Carrington

After a lifetime of professional music making, as boy chorister, member of King’s College Chapel Choir, orchestral player with world-famous maestri, co- founder and 25 year creative force with The King’s Singers, and teacher and conductor, Simon Carrington comes to Westminster Choir College to share his experiences and ideas on the journey from a note on the page to a lump in the throat – the unexpected power of choral music.

Maestro Carrington will discuss rehearsal and conducting techniques, aural training on the go, the singer’s own responsibilities, teach-yourself -sight-singing skills, tasting the text, vibrato (!), style, color, communication and more.

Participants will sing, conduct and review ideas. There will time set aside for questions and answers and Maestro Carrington will share some recollections of life on the road from Tallis to the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Music will be supplied from Westminster’s Performance Collection for the day’s singing and conducting.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to work with one of the premier choral conductors of our time.
