Freedom and Ease at the Keyboard using the Alexander Technique

Date
February 13, 2010
Discipline
Piano
Teacher
James Drake

This special seminar will be invaluable to pianists and organists. Dr. James Drake who received his training in the Alexander Technique from Patrick Macdonald who was Matthias Alexander's assistant will lead this hands-on workshop. The Alexander Technique is well known for overcoming obstacles associated with performance stress. (locking and physical strain)

Dr. Drake will begin this session with a short recital demonstrating the ease he has when he performs. Participants are invited to bring in a piece of music which gives them technical problems and Dr. Drake will demonstrate how those problems can be solved using the Alexander Technique.

Dr. Drake has presented workshops across the United States and throughout Europe, including The Royal College of Music, London, The Juilliard School, New York, National Convention of British Organists in Nottingham England and others.

Participants who would like to perform are asked to note their interest to perform and their piece when they register.
