Solo Pianist Practicing a "Menuet" from the Classical Period 2008
High School Solo Piano June 22–27, 2008 One-week program
Now in its eighth year, this workshop offers the serious young pianist an enhancing and stimulating musical experience and exposes each participant to the artistic and practical aspect of solo performance. Acceptance in this program is by taped audition.
Program Highlights
Daily private lessons, studio classes and lecture/recitals with Westminster Artist Faculty, Ena Bronstein Barton , James Goldsworthy and Phyllis Alpert Lehrer
Lecture/demonstration and master class with composer Laurie Altman
Learn effective techniques for dealing with performance anxiety and memorization
Attend seminars in applying and auditioning for colleges of music
Perform in the final High School Solo Pianist recital
Lecture with Ena Bronstein Barton "Technique for Expression in Chopin" 2008
Solo Pianist Final Recital 2008
Daily Schedule
Morning and afternoon: Daily private lessons, classes in piano literature, piano technique and style, movement and collaborative piano opportunities Evening: Selected presentations in auditioning techniques, applying to colleges of music, careers in music and recitals
Solo Pianist Tuition 2008 $900
This camp is closed for 2008.
Audition Information Deadline is March 14th, 2008
Applicants are required to include the following on their audition CD or cassette tape:
A work by J.S. Bach
One movement of a sonata by Beethoven, Mozart or Haydn
A Romantic or 20th-century piece
Please mark your tape or CD clearly with your name and repertoire selections.
Enrollment is open to students entering the 9th grade through those who have just completed their senior year. Enrollment is limited to 15 pianists.
