Verification

Quality Assurance Verification

Rider University participates in the Federal Department of Education’s Quality Assurance Program. This program allows the University to determine its criteria for the selection of financial aid participants to have their FAFSA information verified. All first time Rider University students will be selected for verification. Continuing and graduate students will be selected based upon the established University criteria; therefore, students may disregard federal verification notification indicated on the Student Aid Report (SAR).

If your application has been selected for quality assurance verification, additional documents will be requested.  You will be required to submit the following documents:

Dependent Students
Submit a Quality Assurance Verification Document, parents’(’s) W-2's and federal tax returns, including all schedules and statements, and your (the student’s) W-2's and tax returns. (All tax returns must be signed including Telefile)

Independent Students
Submit a Quality Assurance Verification Document, your W-2's and federal tax returns, including all schedules and statements, and, if married filing separate, your spouse’s W-2's and tax return. (All tax returns must be signed including Telefile)

Other documents may be requested to complete the verification process. It is imperative that these documents be submitted promptly to avoid suspension of your financial assistance.

If you and/or your family do not file a tax return, you may be required to complete an Expenditure and Resource Statement form.  The Office of Student Financial Services will send the Quality Assurance Verification Document to you.

The Office of Student Financial Services will begin your verification review once all requested documents are received. Please understand if there is any difference between the information contained on the FAFSA and the actual figures reported on your tax returns and other required documentation, adjustments may be made to your financial aid award. Once this review is completed will we be able to finalize your award for verification purposes. Therefore, it is to your benefit to submit requested documents as soon as possible.

Note: No aid may be paid into your account until verification is completed. Once Rider has mailed documents, a prompt response is required.  Failure to complete quality assurance verification within 90 days will result in suspension of the estimated aid award.
