Piano and Organ Audition and Scholarship Competition

  • Piano Audition and Scholarship Competition will take place February 20, 2010.  See the requirements below.
  • Organ - All graduate and undergraduate applicants for an organ performance or organ primary degree are eligible to be selected for one of the Organ Competition prizes.  Winner will be notified in writing by April 1, 2010.

First Prize Scholarships: $4,000 Graduate
Second Prize Scholarships: $2,000 Graduate (graduate awards are renewable for two years)

Piano Audition and Scholarship Competition is open to any graduate student pursuing a degree at Westminster with a primary instrument of Piano.  In addition to the awards mention above, graduate students also may be eligible for assistantships and additional grants.

Competition Requirements
Piano

All must be performed from memory.

  1. A prelude & fugue from J.S. Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier.
  2. An entire sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven
  3. A Romantic work (e.g., Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, or Brahms).
  4. A 20th-or 21st- century work.
