Piano and Organ Audition and Scholarship Competition

 

  • Piano Audition and Scholarship Competition will take place February 20, 2010.  See the requirements below.
  • Organ - All graduate and undergraduate applicants for an organ performance or organ primary degree are eligible to be selected for one of the Organ Competition prizes.  Winner will be notified in writing by April 1, 2010.

First Prize Scholarships: $4,000 Undergraduate
Second Prize Scholarships: $2,000 Undergraduate (undergraduate awards are annually renewable for four years)

The Piano audition/competition is open to any undergraduate student pursuing a degree at Westminster with a primary instrument of Piano.  In addition to the awards mention above undergraduate students also may be eligible for additional merit-based scholarships (total scholarships wll not exceed $20,000). 

Interested students must register to audition and indicate their interest in the competition.

Piano Competition Requirements

 

Piano

All must be performed from memory.

  1. A prelude & fugue from J.S. Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier.
  2. A sonata by Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven (first or final movement)
  3. A Romantic work (e.g., Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, or Brahms).
  4. A 20th-or 21st- century work.
