Baritone Marvin Keenze has been a member of the faculty at Westminster Choir College of Rider University since 1976. He is Professor of Voice and Pedagogy and the director of the Voice Resource Center in the Presser Music Center at Erdman Hall at the college. He is a 1959 graduate of Westminster Choir College, where he received both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. He has taught at the University of Delaware, Swarthmore College, and at Boston University’s Tanglewood Young Artists program. In 1995 Mr. Keenze was the recipient of the Westminster Alumni Award, and in 1998 he was given the Van Lawrence Award by the Voice Foundation for his work in voice pedagogy. He is the International Coordinator for the National Association of Teachers of Singing, a member of the American Academy of Teachers of Singing, the Slovenian Association of Teachers of Singing, the Australian Voice Teachers Association, the French Association of Teachers of Singing, and the National Opera Association. As a pianist, conductor, singer, adjudicator and teacher he has traveled to 47 countries around the world. Mr. Keenze has presented classes and lectures for workshops, conferences and conventions throughout the United Stated and Canada. He was the chairman of the Second International Congress of Voice Teachers, and of the 2000 NATS national convention in Philadelphia. He is chair of the International Congress of Voice Teachers. He has adjudicated the Metropolitan Opera Auditions at the district and regional levels on numerous occasions, as well as the Australian Opera competitions, the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Festival, the Dunedin, New Zealand competitions. He has been on the faculty for the Voice Foundation’s symposium on the Professional Voice, the NATS intern program and the New Zealand Singing School.
