Professor of theory and composition. BM, Rollins College; MM (piano), The Juilliard School; PhD, Rutgers University; certificates in harmony, piano, solfege, The American School of the Arts, Fontainebleau, France. Studied with Raymond and Ruth Young, Edwin Hughes, Thomas Brockman, Nadia Boulanger, Annette Dieudone, Jean Casadesus, Robert Casadesus, Mieczyslaw Munz, Robert Moevs and Rolv Yttrehus. Member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and The Composer's Society. Honors include: the Griffit Honor Award for Composition, scholarships with Edwin Hughes, Artist Winner-NJMEA, Rex Beach Award, John Philip Sousa Award, Presser Foundation Scholarship, Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Certificate, DeCourcy Award, William I. Burt Scholarship, Greater Miami Symphony First Prize Winner, Edwin B. Garrigues Foundations Scholarship, Florida NMTA First Prize, Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award, Danforth Nominee from Rollins College, Harriet Hale Wooley Grant, Young Artist Audition Winner of New Jersey YM-YWHA State Contest, scholarship to The Juilliard School, NJMTA Composer of the Year (1991). Piano soloist in Beethoven's Choral Fantasy (1993) listed among the best performances in New Jersey by the Star Ledger. Active composer; recent commissions include three choral pieces for the Haverford Singers and NJMTA piano contest pieces; Sonnet Entitled How to Run the World, for tenor and chamber ensemble published by Rutgers University (1981). Private coaching in piano, theory and composition; active church musician; and judge for statewide auditions. Director of Westminster High School Composers' Week, coordinator/conductor of Westminster Composers' Ensemble, coordinator of Westminster Composers' Concert, and international student advisor (1986-92).
