- The BM/MAT program normally requires five years of study. In order to gain admission, undergraduates must meet the admission requirements set by the School of Education and must be recommended by the Music Education Department of the College of Music. Students may apply after completing the sophomore portfolio review and, if admitted, may begin during the first semester of the junior year.
- Weekly Music Education Lab attendance is required of all music education majors except during the student teaching semester.
- Some graduate-level courses may be offered only on the Lawrenceville campus of Rider University.
- Students must pass a written comprehensive examination at the conclusion of the 5-year program.
- Upon completion of all requirements of the dual degree program, students receive the Bachelor of Music degree from Westminster Choir College and the Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the School of Education of Rider University. Recipients of the two degrees are then recommended for New Jersey teacher certification.
