Serena Benedetti is a member of the Adjunct Faculty of voice at Westminster Choir College of Rider University.  Winner of a Marian Anderson Career Grant for Emerging Classical Artists, her operatic appearances have included Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with the Sarasota Opera, Musetta in La Bohème with the Palm Beach Opera, Fiordiligi in Cosí fan tutte with the Utah Symphony and Opera, and Violetta in La Traviata with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, Marzelline in Fidelio with Virginia Opera, and Adina in L’elisir d’amore with Lyric Opera Cleveland, in which Opera News proclaimed her, “the evening’s highlight, fulfilling the letter and the spirit of bel canto.”  She joined the roster of the New York City Opera for the 2006 season.

 

She debuted at Carnegie Hall in Handel’s Messiah under the baton of John Rutter, and returned there for performances with the New York Oratorio Society and MidAmerica Productions in repertoire ranging from Vivaldi to Mendelssohn.  Other concert appearances have included the CPE Bach Magnificat, Massenet’s La Terre Promise, Gounod’s Tobie, and the J.S. Bach St. John Passion, for the Sacred Music in a Sacred Space Series at St. Ignatius Loyola in New York with Kent Tritle.  She has also sung with the Danish Radio Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Missouri Symphony, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Princeton Symphony, Greater Palm Beach Symphony Society, Lyric Chamber Music Festival at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, National Symphony, National Cathedral Choir, Lancaster Symphony, Garden State Symphony, Palm Beach Opera Orchestra, and The Maverick Music Festival. She also appeared alongside legendary artist Dave Brubeck in his oratorio, La Fiesta de la Posada.

 

She has collaborated in recital at Weill Hall in New York with clarinetist Stanley Drucker, and cellist Evangeline Benedetti, of the New York Philharmonic.  At Westminster, she has appeared numerous times with JJ Penna on the Songfest concert series, in repertoire ranging from Richard Strauss to Aaron Jay Kernis.
