Orientation

Welcome to Orientation at Westminster

Welcome to Westminster Choir College and thanks for visiting the Orientation site! We are excited that you will be coming very soon and look forward to seeing you on campus. Orientation is a time when you will familiarize yourself with various aspects of college life. There will be academic components, along with many chances to socialize with your new class! Westminster really is a special place where you can grow both musically and personally, and Orientation sets you on that path.

Testing Day

Testing Day will occur on Monday, May 19th, from 8:30am-5pm for undergraduates only. Please come to the Student Center on our Princeton campus (101 Walnut Lane Princeton, NJ) to check in.

Testing Day is a critical component to the start of an undergraduate's year, as it will ensure you are properly registered for your classes and can receive class assignments during your summer orientation. During Testing Day, tests will be given in Theory, Math, English, and Piano, which help to properly place you into classes in the Fall. Lunch will be provided to those who attend.

For more details about testing, please refer to the Hearings and Tests Booklet located here.

Summer Orientation Packet

Undergraduate students will be receiving an Orientation packet soon after they make their Admissions deposit. This mailing will include the summer orientation schedule, a summer orientation preference sheet, and information about campus life and the local area. Room assignments will be sent out in a mailing by the beginning of August.

Although you will receive your health forms in this mailing, if you would like to learn more about health records and immunization requirements, please visit our Student Health Services' website.

Graduate will be sent information as they deposit beginning in the middle of May.

Summer Orientation Sessions

Summer Orientation sessions give students the opportunity to connect with the university, find out more about college life, talk with administrators, and meet other incoming students. Summer Orientation sessions will be offered on the following dates*:

    • June 22-23
    • July 13-14
    • July 27-28

Summer Orientation is an exciting, informative two-day program for new students and their family members. Students have the opportunity to meet and get to know students on both the Princeton and Lawrenceville campuses, learn about available resources, and meet with faculty and administrators.

*A preference form will be sent to you with your Summer Orientation Packet, and also is available here. This form must be sent back to the Office of the Associate Dean of Students in order to reserve your space. Although we will try to accompdate a student's first choice, sessions are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Because of limited space, if your first choice session fills, another session may need to be assigned to you.

All Summer Sessions will begin on Rider University's Lawrenceville campus on the Sunday afternoon of your assigned session and will continue on that campus until Monday at 10am. Families will then travel to Westminster for sessions on our Princeton campus starting at 10:45am Monday morning.

Staying Overnight

Students and up to two family members have the option to stay overnight on the Lawrenceville campus during summer orientation sessions. Students and family members will be housed in separate residence halls, so make sure to pack accordingly! Return your Orientation Preference Sheet as soon as possible because space is limited!

Please note that residence halls are not air conditioned! If you would prefer to stay in a local hotel, there are several options available to you

Fall Orientation and Welcome

Fall Orientation will officially begin on Wednesday, August 27th* for undergraduate students. Residence Hall move-in will begin at 8am in the morning, with official Orientation events and hearings beginning at 12pm. Students are strongly encouraged to remain in the area through the start of classes on Wednesday, September 3rd, as there are important events happening to assist you in your start at Westminster.

*Graduate students should plan on coming to the Westminster campus for testing on Tuesday, August 26th that begins at 9am.
