Cheerleading Tryout and Open Clinic Information

Tryouts
Tryouts dates for the 2007-2008 season will be September 14, 2007 at 7:00pm.  See below for tryout information you need to know.

Clinic

Sunday, September 9 - 4:30pm (Alumni Gym)
Tuesday, September 11 - 8:00pm (Alumni Gym)
Thursday, September 13 - 7:30pm (Alumni Gym)

Team Structure
Rider University offers one co-ed cheerleading team. The team cheers for the men’s and women’s basketball teams and has 15-20 members.

TRYOUT INFOMATION

Content:

Tryouts consist of cheer, tumbling, stunt, jump and dance for females.

Material for cheer and dance will be taught at the tryout.  Males will be asked to stunt and cheer. An interview will be included for all participants.

Material to be demonstrated:

  • Dance
  • One Sideline Chant  
  • One Court Cheer
  • 3 best stunts
  • 1 basket toss
  • 3 Jumps Toe touch, Pike and Jump of your choice
  • Standing and or running tumbling (preferred)
  • Interview

Attire:

Appropriate clothing includes a T-shirt or tank, shorts and athletic shoes, if you do not have cheerleading shoes. You should look game day finished with hair and make-up through out the tryout process. Males should be clean shaven. Please wear either Rider colors or black and white clothing to the tryout without other school or team names on clothing.

Register:

To register have a copy of your acceptance letter if you are an incoming freshman, and a copy of the insurance forms (found at http://www.gobroncs.com under Sports Medicine, New Athletes) fully completeted. Paperwork can be faxed to CL Voorhees at 609-896-0341.
