Academic Support at EEP
The mission of the Education Enhancement Program (EEP) is to help students reach their academic goals by empowering them with the strategies needed to be independent and successful learners. We provide and coordinate academic support services to maximize students’ educational potential and self-awareness. The EEP staff consists of experienced administrators, professional tutors, graduate students, and trained peer-tutors. All EEP programs are free for all Rider students.

Having trouble getting your thoughts organized? Want another pair of eyes on that paper? Does it seem as if no matter how hard you try, you just aren’t getting it? The professional and trained Student Writing Associates at the Rider Learning Center (Vona Academic Annex # 3) can help. Our trained staff helps students craft stronger and tighter papers and develop better all-around study and time-management strategies. We help students learn how they learn best.

Math Skills Lab (609) 896-5305
MTH 100S is a one credit supplemental course taught through professional instruction, individual tutoring, structured workshops, and computer-based tutorials. The Math Skills Lab course is designed to provide College of Liberal Arts, Science, and Education students who do not meet placement criteria for college-level mathematics with a 1 semester review of essential mathematics.
Having trouble with Math? Just can’t seem to understand those notes that you took in class? The Math Skills Lab (Vona Academic Annex # 22) provides tutoring for all liberal arts math courses. Our peer tutors are ready to help you understand those notes and offer assistance in learning the material.
Reading Courses (609) 895-5641
During your first year at Rider try a reading course to improve your reading of college level materials and to improve your study strategies. EEP offers Introduction to Academic Reading (CRC 101S), a 2 credit supplemental course for first-year students who do not meet the placement criteria for college-level reading Did you score well but still need practice in study and reading strategies for college level work? College Reading (CRC 100) focuses on comprehension of college-level readings that are used at Rider University. Students receive 3 credits toward graduation upon successful completion of the course.

Services for Students with Disabilities (Vona Academic Annex # 8) ensures equal access for all students with qualifying documented disabilities as defined by federal legislation. Services for Students with Disabilities offers a range of services to assist students with documented learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, cognitive impairments, physical disabilities, psychological disabilities, hearing and visual disabilities, and other health impairments. These services include:
- Screening and referral for new or updated disability documentation
- Providing supplementary informal assessment
- Assisting with requests for academic adjustments
- Offering individualized support
- Accessing adaptive technology
- Consulting with faculty and staff
- Linking to community resources
For students with reading or visual impairments, Kurzweil services and equipment are available in the computer lab in room 2 of the Joseph P. Vona Academic Annex.
