Rider Learning Center
The RLC in The Vona Academic Annex (Rooms 1-3) offers a variety of services for Rider faculty. Our Staff of Professional Tutors,
Graduate Assistants, and trained Student Writing Associates are available as resources. Services range from customized workshops for your content area to revising sessions with RLC staff. Please choose the service or services that best meet the expectations of the course.Introduction to Services invites a representative from the Rider Learning Center into the classroom to introduce students to our services. In a brief, interactive presentation (typically 10 - 15 minutes), a member of our staff will highlight our services with particular emphasis on the services we offer as a supplement to the course and will encourage students to use our reading, writing, study strategies, test preparation, and time management tutoring sessions in the RLC.
Workshops provide targeted support to meet the students' specific needs in active reading, writing, studying, and test preparation strategies related to your particular course. Professional Tutors, Graduate Assistants and Student Writing Associates can also attend writing-intensive courses to assist students in the revision process.
Embedded Tutors enhance the role of the RLC by connecting with the course instructor and students on a regular basis. Student Writing Associates or Graduate Assistants can be paired with writing-intensive courses. In a writing-intensive course, Embedded Tutors attend class when assignments are introduced and when pertinent readings are discussed. All Embedded Tutors can provide additional individual and small group out-of-class tutoring by request.
For further information about any of these resources for faculty, please contact Dr. Jacqueline Simon(Simon@rider.edu), the Director of the Education Enhancement Program / Rider Learning Center (609) 895-5641.
