Convocations Will Open 2009-10 Academic Year at Rider
The 2009-10 academic year at Rider University will get under way in September with three traditional ceremonies to welcome back faculty, staff and students to its Lawrenceville and Princeton campuses.
The Lawrenceville Campus Fall 2009 Opening Convocation will be held on Thursday, September 3, at 2 p.m., in the Cavalla Room, inside the Bart Luedeke Center. A backyard reception to honor new faculty and staff will take place immediately afterward at the President’s House, opposite Lawrenceville Road from Rider. All faculty and staff are invited to attend and are encouraged to R.S.V.P. (acceptances only) to Beverly Braddock no later than August 24. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held in the Student Recreation Center (SRC) Atrium and Lobby.
Lawrenceville’s New Student Convocation will take place on Tuesday, September 8, in the SRC at 1 p.m. This hour-long ceremony welcomes new students as members of the Rider community. Faculty are encouraged to process in academic attire (please gather for robing in the SRC Hall of Fame area at 12:30 p.m.). The Westminster Choir College Fall 2009 Opening Convocation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, at 4:30 p.m., in Bristol Chapel, on Westminster’s Princeton campus. In addition to the opening address, featured performances will include the world premiere of Professor Ronald A. Hemmel’s An Idle Rhyme, a setting of a text by Ella Wheeler Wilcox for choir and piano.
