Come Celebrate University Day on April 7

The entire Rider community is invited to celebrate University Day on Tuesday, April 7. Traditionally, University Day is celebrated on or near April 13 each year to recognize the day in 1994 when Rider officially achieved university status.

The celebration will officially kick off at 8:30 a.m. with various student representatives from Greek Life, Student Entertainment Council and Student Government Association greeting community members with University Day pins. The Association of Commuter Students will also serve free coffee and doughnuts from 8:30 to 10 a.m. behind the P.J. Ciambella Hall on the Lawrenceville campus.

The Office of Alumni Relations will host a special Rider Faculty and Staff Alumni Breakfast on the Van Cleve Alumni House Lawn at 9 a.m.

The festivities continue during the University Luncheon, held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Daly’s Dining Hall. At 12:30 p.m. during the luncheon, the Nancy Gray Award will be presented to an outstanding staff or faculty member who personifies the principles of campus leadership, campus involvement, school spirit and community service. Gray served as vice president for Development and University Relations from 1991 to 1998.

Other highlights will include a Rider Softball vs. Rutgers game at 4 p.m. at the Herb and Joan Young Softball Field; a University Day BBQ from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on The Great Plains on the Westminster campus; and a musical performance by a Beatles cover band at 8 p.m. in the Bart Luedeke Center Theater on the Lawrenceville campus.
