Scholarly Activities -- Fall 2008

  • Dr. Jia Shen, assistant professor of Computer and Information Systems; Dr. Starr Roxanne Hiltz, distinguished professor emerita at the New Jersey Institute of Technology; and Dr. Michael Bieber, professor and acting chair of the Department of Information Systems at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, published the article “Learning Strategies in Online Collaborative Examinations,” in the journal IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Volume 51, Issue 1, pages 63-78, in March 2008. 
  • Shen also presented the paper “User Acceptance of Social Shopping Sites: A Research Proposal” at the Proceedings of the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems in Suzhou, China, from July 3 to 7, 2008. 
  • Shen, along with Dr. Lauren Eder, chair of the Department of Computer and Information Systems, presented the paper “Intentions to Use Virtual Worlds: An Exploratory Study” at the Proceedings of the Americas Conference on Information Systems in Toronto from August 14 to 17, 2008.
  • Dr. Ilhan Meric, professor of Finance; Dr. Ilene V. Goldberg, associate professor of Legal Studies and Business Ethics; and Ira Bruce Sprotzer, associate professor and chair of the Department of Legal Studies and Business Ethics, had a paper entitled “Eliminating the Tax Cuts on Dividends and Capital Gains May Have an Adverse Effect on the Stock Market” accepted for publication in the Journal of Taxation and Investment. Dr. Gulser Meric, a professor of Finance at Rowan University, is a co-author of the paper.
