Broncs To Go Green For Earth Day

Put aside cranberry for a day and show some green spirit. Come out to Rider’s Earth Day celebrations, held on both campuses, on Tuesday, April 22. The Energy and Sustainability Steering Committee will have informational booths and lots of giveaways to help you think green at Cranberry’s outside patio on the Lawrenceville campus from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • Trade up: Trade in your plastic bags for a reusable Broncs Go Green bag. Trade in non-reusable recyclable water bottles to get a reusable Broncs Go Green bottle.
  • Free Tees: Organic Broncs Go Green T-shirts will be given out to the first 100 people.
  • Green Pride: Get a green ribbon to show your environmental commitment by pledging to take action.
  • Recycle: Learn more about recycling on campus. 
  • Trivia:  Take a quiz see to how much you know about sustainability, the environment and going green. Win a prize.
  • Competition: Winners of the first Rider Recycles Poster Contest will also be announced. The first place prize is $500 and the poster will be used on both campuses. The second place prize is $250, and third place prize is $100.

Don’t miss the festivities on the Great Plains at the Princeton campus, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Recycling Fair: Trade in a disposable water bottles for a reusable one, plastic bag for a reusable one, and donate used clothing to the needy in Haiti and receive a free, organic T-shirt
  • Think Green: Find out about the new recycling program at Rider 
  • Be Green: Learn simple tips to be greener
  • Raffle for prizes
  • Entertainment: Listen to world music and enjoy local food

Still want more ways to become green?

  • Walk, bike or carpool
  • Reduce waste by avoiding buying disposable products and purchasing only minimally packaged products
  • Reuse what you can
  • Recycle
  • Buy locally to support local business and farmers in the community
  • Go outside and enjoy nature because it’s your immediate link to the environment
  • Get involved. Participate in student government/organizations to voice support for sustainability issues and decisions
