Rider University Broncs Go Green!

RecycleMania is a friendly competition between colleges and universities that provides a fun way of increasing our recycling participation and decreasing our generated waste. The competition is a 10-week campaign to raise awareness among students, faculty, and staff about campus recycling and overall waste reduction. The campaign runs from January 28th – April 7th, 2008.
Rider has chosen to participate in the Waste Minimization part of the contest to further show support of its commitment to sustainability and the recently signed American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. Waste Minimization focuses on producing the least amount of waste per person. All participating schools will be reporting the weights of recyclables and waste to RecycleMania weekly.
Steps are being taken to increase the campus’ recycling capabilities to meet this challenge. Soon paper/cardboard-recycling containers will be posted in residence halls; housekeeping is participating in this event and we’ll be adding more recycling containers for better participation.
