Holiday Calendar AY2010
The following holidays will be observed during the 2009-2010 academic year:
Labor Day -- Monday, September 7, 2009
Thanksgiving Day -- Thursday, November 26, 2009
President Rozanski has authorized the closing of the University at noon on Wednesday, November 25, 2009.
Day after Thanksgiving -- Friday, November 27, 2009
Christmas Day -- Friday, December 25, 2009
President Rozanski has authorized the closing of the University at noon on Thursday, December 24, 2009.
New Years Day -- Friday, January 1, 2010
Spring Holiday -- Friday, March 19, 2010
Memorial Day -- Monday, May 31, 20010
Independence Day -- Monday, July 5, 2010 (observed)
Labor Day (AY2011) -- Monday, September 6, 2010
To be paid for a Rider holiday, you must work or take a paid day off on the scheduled workday before and after the holiday.
Early Close: To allow employees an early start on their holiday activities, President Rozanski has authorized closing offices at noon on the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 25th. All offices should remain open until noon. The President has also authorized closing offices at noon on the workday before Christmas, Thursday, December 24th.
University policy requires that all offices are to remain open and staffed until closing on the eve of these holidays.
Floating Holiday: Non-faculty employees are entitled to two floating holidays (AFSCME members get 1 floating holiday and 1 birthday holiday). Floating holidays require to supervisory approval and may not be carried over into the next fiscal year.
Winter Close: From Monday, December 28th, 2009, through Thursday, December 31st, 2009 , the University will again close to allow staff an extended holiday period and to conserve energy costs. The University will reopen on Monday, January 4, 2010.
Please note that some University offices may be required to be open on these stated holidays.
