Newark Mayor Cory Booker at Rider University
Join Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker for a roundtable discussion with students about the importance of student involvement in the political arena on Monday, October 26, in the SRC Seminar Room from 3 to 4:15 p.m. This is a great opportunity for students to meet and engage this dynamic, up-and-coming figure in state and national politics. Booker’s appearance is sponsored by the University Democrats and Yes We Can 2.0.
Prior to being elected mayor of New Jersey’s largest city, Booker played football at Stanford University, where he became an All-Pac-10 Academic Team selection and a Rhodes Scholar. A native of New Jersey, he is also a graduate of Oxford University and Yale Law School.
You may have seen Booker’s recent appearances on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and The Colbert Report. Booker was also featured in a five-part Sundance Channel documentary series entitled Brick City, detailing his battle to raise the city up from what Sundance calls “a half century of violence, poverty and corruption.”
Seats are limited. Those interested in attending should RSVP as soon as possible to Joseph Gallant at gallant@rider.edu.
