As a college student and future educator, Jessica Macheda knows the importance of keeping in tune with national and global issues. The graduating senior, who recently organized an afterschool program where the students, from kindergarten through third grade, made Valentines for the troops, was invited to the University Presidential Inaugural Conference in Washington, D.C., which aims to encourage youths to become more involved in politics and develop a greater awareness of the world around them.
