Rider Celebrates History at 2008 University Day

Sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures welcomed a large turnout at Rider’s 2008 University Day celebration. This year’s theme “Memorable Moments in Rider History,” allowed the Rider community to look back on the university’s great moments throughout history.
A Rider tradition, University Day is celebrated on or near April 13 each year to recognize the day in 1994 when Rider officially achieved university status. Some of the day’s highlights included a luncheon, a shuttle between the Princeton and Lawrenceville campuses, RHA Battle of the Buildings Soccer Tournament and Andrew J. Rider/John Finely Williamson 121st Birthday Party, and RHA Memorial Scholarship Walk.
The luncheon also featured the Nancy Gray Award presentation. Dr. Carol Brown, associate dean in the College of Liberal Arts, Education and Science, was this year’s awards recipient. The annual award is named in honor of Nancy Gray, Rider’s former vice president of Development, and is bestowed upon a member of the Rider staff, faculty or administration who best exemplifies the ideas of institutional leadership, school pride and community service.
