Academic Probation Support

REACH:  Raising Expectations for Academic CHange

The Student Success Center offers students on Conditional Academic Standing (below a 2.0) an opportunity to REACH their academic goals by providing them with the tools and strategies needed to succeed in their studies.  Students meet with Student Success Center coaches to review their previous experiences, determine their reasons for being on academic probation, and to ascertain the adjustments needed to be made to create the mindset necessary to succeed in college.  Components of this program include identifying strategies to improve the student's: 

  • Motivation
  • Initiative
  • Navigation Skills
  • Direction
  • Study Strategies
  • Expectations
  • Time Management

Student Success Center coaches meet with students to set semester and long-term goals, review progress, and to recommend tutoring and workshops.

Benefits of Working with Student Success Center Coaches

Student Success Center Coaches take an individualized approach in recommending strategies or workshops designed to help students REACH the following goals:

  • Accept personal responsibility
  • Take purposeful actions
  • Develop self management strategies
  • Gain self-awareness
  • Access tutors and learn how they learn best through self-monitoring

The Student Success Center communicates with the appropriate Dean's office regarding successful completion of requirements.
