Veterans Affairs Information

Veterans Affairs

Services provided by Veterans Affairs Coordinators include assisting students in applying for educational benefits for veterans and veterans' dependents, certifying school attendance to the regional VA office, maintaining individual students files, and reporting to regional and state VA offices.

These services are provided by the following offices:

  • Office of the Registrar (x5065) for day school undergraduates, graduate students, and all Vocational Rehabilitation Students
  • College of Continuing Studies (x5033) for CCS students
  • Westminster Choir College Assistant Registar (x8207) for WCC students

Tuition Deferment for Veterans

Many veterans have found it difficult to meet tuition payments in full by the date established by the University for payment of fees.  Those enrolled in the day school who have been certified by Rider University as eligible for veterans benefits, may have a portion of their tuition deferred.

Certified, eligible veterans and veterans' dependents, enrolled full-time, may participate in a deferred tuition payment plan.  The amount of tuition deferred may not exceed the monthly VA educational benefit and a carrying charge is levied for all deferrals.  The designated Veterans Affairs Coordinator in consultation with the Bursar determines the appropriate payment plan. Veterans desiring deferred payment plan must consult their Veterans Coordinator.

Veterans are encouraged to apply for financial aid at the Office of Student Financial Services, whether or not they currently receive veterans benefits.

Veteran's Certification

In order to apply for veterans benefits, students must complete the appropriate application with the supporting documents required by the VA (i.e. DD214, marriage license, birth certificates, DD2384, etc.)  The Veterans Coordinator completes a VA 1990 form verifying enrollment.  Any changes in enrollment, number of dependents, address, etc. must be reported to the Coordinator for notification to the VA.

Each April students receiving VA benefits must notify the Veterans Coordinator in writing of their enrollment plans for the coming academic year.
