American Federation of Musicians (AFM) - Guidance and resources for people interested in the recording industry.  Look under ‘Young Musicians’ and ‘Career Corner.’  Many features free.

Art Job - Extremely helpful – great link opportunities, very specific! There are comprehensive national and international job listings with bi-weekly updates.  Fee required.

Art Pride

Arts USA - This site is not really career-oriented, but it is an excellent source of information concerning arts advocacy in America.  It is a must-see for every aspiring musician.  Many features free.

Arts Wire - Click on “NYFA Classifieds” to find all kinds of arts administration postings, technical arts listings, educational leadership positions, and some foundation work.  Free.

Lincoln Center General Information - This site is terrific for Arts Administration types.  Through the general information link ‘About Lincoln Center,’ you can reach the job listings.  The listings pertain to opportunities at Lincoln Center and include internships as well as professional listings. This site appears to be updated monthly.  Many free features.

Music Industry Career Center - The Music Industry Career Center is open to all members of the music industry who are either looking for a job or looking to hire someone for a job in the music industry.  You can post your resume and search by state, company, date and job title.  Free.

Musical America - Works with the international performing arts industry for recruitment.  Click on ‘Career Center’ to search jobs and post resumes.  Free.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Click on site map ‘Employment’ to view job openings within NJPAC.  Free.

New York Foundation for the Arts - Arts administration jobs.  Free.

Philadelphia Cultural Alliance - Mostly administrative jobs (many non-music).  Click on ‘Job Bank’ to search jobs.  Optional membership.


Choral

The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA)  - American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) is a nonprofit organization that promotes excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching.  Click on choral job board under ‘Membership Services.’  Free with optional free membership to online forum.

ChoralNet - Great site! Many resources related to organizations, job searches (look under ‘Choral and Vocal Employment’ links, under community), repertoire, rehearsal, performance, technical aids, and educational references.  You will also find links to ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music), and MUSICA (Musica International Database of Choral Music).

Conductor’s Guild - Provides information about membership, regional meetings, workshops, and annual conference. Includes information on subscription to Journal of the Conductors Guild (appearing semi-annually), Opportunities Bulletin (appearing monthly, listing current vacancies, positions and news of study opportunities and competitions), Podium Notes (a newsletter for members). Links to choral music and orchestra and other instrumental music publishers. Membership required.

National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) - Job posting by states, educational opportunities, articles and other very useful links!  Membership required.


Higher Education

American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) - From the main page, Career Center connects you to “Job Listings and Resources” for the nation’s community colleges.  Free.

The Chronicle of Higher Education - Subscribers who register can receive free access to all of the web site and regular e-mail news updates. Services on the Internet include: A daily briefing on developments in higher education, sent by e-mail, with full reports available on the web site, reports on developments in information technology of interest to faculty members and administrators, including links to Internet resources for higher education. Daily updates on grant opportunities. Free.

College Music Society - This is a consortium of college, conservatory, university and independent musicians.  The site has six areas: 1) Member Services 2) Informational Services 3) Professional Activities  4) Career Services  5) Outreach and Engagement  6) Governance and Administration.  Offers newsletter and directories.  Membership required.

Higher Ed. Jobs Online - Search engine containing job listings in higher education. Users can search by type of position, keyword or job location. Also offers a free email newsletter to keep subscribers up-to-date on new postings to the site. Free.

Women in Higher Education - Contains job postings from schools seeking qualified female applicants. Those who would use the web site must subscribe to “Women in Higher Education.” This is a publication that comes with a password which subscribers use to log into the site and gain access to the job database. Click on “Career Connections.”  Free.


K-12 Job Sites and Resources

American Association for Employment in Education (AAEE) - Links to broad job search resources for education candidates. Important link from this site: Project Connect- With a free user password, you can connect to job listings.  There are multiple music listings on a regular basis.  Free.

K-12 Jobs.Com - Extensive listing of jobs in K-12 education. Contains salary reports, links to state certification offices, and links to various educators’ associations.  Free.

National Association for Music Education (MENC) - Music education job database that allows users to search the database by the grade levels they wish to teach.  From the main page, the jobs link will connect the user to the MENC Job Center for job listings.  You don’t need to be an MENC member.  Free.

Nation Job Network - Database of K-12 and university jobs, focus of which is in the Midwest. Employers can post ads and those seeking jobs can search the listed jobs as well as access a variety of resources such as loan consolidation services and online college courses.  Free.

New Jersey Hire - This site is sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Education Recruitment Initiative.  It is the best site for people looking for education jobs in New Jersey.  With a free password, you may search online job databases, post your resume and sign up for a personal job notification service.  From this site you can access information on all school districts in the state.  Free.

Teachers’ Employment Network - Advertised as “the Internet’s greatest resource for education employment”.  This free newsletter keeps subscribers abreast of developments in the field.

Teachers at Work - Teachers at Work is an innovative electronic employment service designed to match the professional staffing needs of schools with teacher applicants who can fill those positions. You can submit, edit/transmit your resume and search jobs by position, states and other categories. Also has useful resource links.  Free.

Teachers-Teachers.com - A free teacher placement service. Must be registered as a member. You can create, edit and post your resume, and send cover letters via email.

New Jersey School Jobs - View jobs by county, specialty, school, or date.  Free.

School Spring, Inc. - Employment source for educators.  Free.


Entertainment

Art Search - The national employment bulletin for the arts.

Arts Opportunities - A free resource for artists, students, and arts administrators seeking to further their careers in the arts.  This service is provided by the Southern Arts Federation.

Cool Works - Entertainment industry – jobs, internships, and career information.

Playbill - Online theater casting and related job listings.

Walt Disney World Resort - This website recruits cast members for family entertainment.


Organ/Sacred Music

American Guild of Organists - Information about educational programs, resources, examinations, certification, competition, career development, and salary guide. Can search positions (listed by region). Links to AGO Chapter web pages (listed by states), other professional associations, organ builders association, and other organ and choral music pages.

Karen McFarlane Artists, Inc - They manage the performance careers of more than 30 concert organists from the United States and Europe. Also has information about artists (including Stefan Engels, Diane Belcher, and Ken Cowan!).

Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists - Information on a variety of concert performers available for booking in the United States and Canada. Includes Organ Competitions such as St. Albans International Organ Competition, Grand Prix de Chartres Competition, Dallas International Organ Competition.  Free.

PIPORG-L - Piporg-l is an electronic mailing list whose members discuss musical, technical and historical aspects of organs of all kinds, (classical, theater, electronic, reed, tracker, electropneumatic), organ specifications, recitals (past and future), recordings, jobs (wanted and available), restoration hints, and news of progress in restoration projects.

Presbyterian Association of Musicians - PAM is a national organization of the Presbyterian Church (USA) for people who are involved in the areas of worship, music, and the arts. See current detailed job descriptions/church information under “Job listings”.   Free.


Voice/Opera

Classical Singer - This is a good site for information about auditions and competitions. You can find employment under classified.  Free.

Glimmerglass Opera Company - Deals with internships offered by the Glimmerglass Opera Company. Paid positions available. Includes position descriptions and contact information.  Free.

The National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) - You can find information about conventions, workshops, competitions and internship programs. It has useful links under ‘Related Links.’   Free.

Opera America - Wonderful links for Voice Performance and Education majors giving up-to-date information on opera all over the world, as well as electronic publications of magazines and newsletters. Membership required – individual and corporate/group rates available, updated weekly.

Operabase - An astoundingly thorough, multilingual resource including news and reviews, schedules for regular seasons throughout the world (including summer festivals), an audio and video recordings database, and a large listing of further resource. Operabase even includes a handy section of maps for planning operatic odysseys.

Operissimo  An indispensable opera resource on the web.  Operissimo is an exhaustive compilation which  includes links to 300 opera houses in 41 countries and contact information for those that do not yet have their own websites. It also includes very thorough entries on composers and performers, an online store for autography and manuscripts, and news bulletins. In English, German, and Italian.  Free.

Opera World - A fun and informal website with lists and links for companies and international schedules. Opera World also features its own columns such as “Opera Insights”, with the latest news and gossip, and “Opera Broadcast News,” a free email newsletter.  Free.

Opera Stuff - Another informal website, Opera Stuff probably has the best list of links to other opera sites, in addition to some very specific lists of its own. The New York “Lincoln Center Area Hotels,” for example, is truly useful for those planning an opera trip to “The Big Apple.”  Free.

Eastman School of Music of Rochester University - Very good and broad job links in music field.  Additional internet job links available at this site.  Subscription required for job listings.

Indiana University School of Music - Job postings by instruments and field. 

Ohio Northern University - Lots of practical information and links!

Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins - This site contains various categories in the music field; also includes information about competitions, grants, awards, and assistantships, etc.  Updated bi-weekly.

SUNY-Fredonia - Search for weekly job postings, links and resume database.
