Westminster Auditions and Interviews

The Purpose of the Interview
The interview is a conversation between an applicant and an employer. There should be a mutual exchange of information for the interview to be successful.

From the Employer's Viewpoint
The employer gathers information to determine whether you have the skills, experiences, and education necessary to perform the duties of the position. S/he has granted you an interview because your resume has convinced him/her that you warrant further consideration. The resume can only provide objective data. The interview provides an opportunity to gather subjective information, such as your verbal communication skills, confidence level, and motivation. The employer also uses the interview to find out whether you are an appropriate "fit" for the organization.

The Applicant's Perspective
As an applicant, the interview gives you the opportunity to communicate your interest in and ability to perform the duties of the position. This is also your chance to learn more about the position, organization, and the people with whom you will be working. As a result of the interview, you should be able to obtain a clear picture of what you would be doing on a typical day. You should also be able to determine whether the position meets your needs.

AUDITIONS

Students can identify auditions in their specific area of interest, and then should contact the Voice, Organ or Piano professors(s) or instructor(s) for guidance.
