Exploring Careers

Choosing a major is a very important step in your career planning and a decision that should be given careful thought and consideration.  If you are unsure about what you would like to major in, a Career Services staff member can assist you with career exploration and identifying areas of study that may be a good match for your personality, interests, skills, and values.  Your major must be declared by second semester of your sophomore year.  We encourage all students with undeclared majors to begin the process of career exploration as early as possible in their freshman year by scheduling an appointment with a Career Services staff member.

Students and alumni can receive assistance in choosing a major and career path by taking personality and interest assessments such as the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.  In completing these assessments, you will explore your own interests, values, skills, and personality type, and at the same time learn about opportunities that match these features.  Please schedule an appointment with a career counselor for assistance by calling (609) 896-5000 ext. 7488.
