Qualifications:
High school diploma and four years of experience in analytical chemistry, laboratory operations or related field. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience; however greater weight may be given for directly related work experience. Prefer undergraduate degree with knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry, small boat handling and trailer towing as well as conducting/directing field and laboratory operations related to the aquatic sciences.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include working in a field and laboratory operations of a marine science research laboratory. Will examine the impacts of nutrients and the history of environmental change in Southwest Florida's watersheds. Responsible for field and laboratory operations and maintenance of field instrumentation and numerous analytical instruments involved in nutrient, chemical and sedimentological analyses. Responsible for assisting in the scheduling and directing marine field and laboratory operation and if needed the operation of boat, trailer and tow vehicle. Responsible for data entry and data visualization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to demonstrate the following: boat-handling skills and knowledge of boating regulations; ability to use computers and relevant software (e.g., Excel, Word); ability to use basic field and laboratory equipment; knowledge of basic laboratory and field safety procedures; ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff and students and to train students in relevant laboratory and field procedures and operations. Ability to swim.
