Our Friday Harbor Labs has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Technologist 1. This individual will maintain database for marine ecological study; enter and proof data, analyze photographs for quantitative data, and perform statistical tests.
Additionally, the person in this role will carry out field surveys in shallow near-shore habitats using photography, video and censusing techniques. Analyze and identify specimens from field collections. Assist with laboratory and field studies of water flow effects on benthic organisms and communities.

Requirements: (1)Two years experience as a Laboratory Technician II, or equivalent; OR a Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of science or technology. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. (2) Computer database and image analysis skills. SCUBA Scientific Diver certification (AAUS or equivalent) and field experience. (3) Familiarity with temperate zone marine invertebrates and benthic ecological sampling techniques.
Condition of Employment: must be willing to work at Friday Harbor (San Juan Islands, WA)
Funding for this position will last 18 months with the possibility of new funding to follow.
