The College invites applications for Instructor, Reading for September 2008. We seek colleagues who share our unequivocal committee to excellence and innovation in teaching, learning, and student development, and who value diversity and service. This is a full time tenure track position. The position is primarily based at the Lincrofi campus however teaching assignments may include other locations in the county.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in Reading or Literacy Education or a Master’s Degree in Education with 18 graduate credits in reading required. Teaching experience working with adults/college students in the field of Reading is preferred. Primary teaching responsibilities include Introduction to College Reading I and II and Reading: Analysis and Study Skills.
Instructor positions are entry level. Minimum qualifications include the College’s requirement that experience for entry level positions not exceed 3 years of full-time equivalent college teaching experience and/or 6 years of related work experience, as determined by the College. Experience is determined afier the award date of the relevant Master’s degree.
Faculty members teaching extra courses or working additional hours during the academic year and in the summer receive additional compensation. Candidates should have familiarity with current technological advances related to the discipline and experience with innovative approaches to teaching, such as student-centered learning. Candidates invited for an in-person interview may be required to present a teaching demonstration. Enthusiasm. dedication to teaching, commitment to the use of new technologies in teaching. openness to new pedagogies and a willingness to participate in departmental curriculum collaboration are essential.
Annual Salary Range for Instructor level for September 2008 is $46,689-$53,692.
